Do not delay, get a gas heating system this wintertime

Icy winds of winter curl through the trees and you huddle at your window, thinking of heating for your house – this season perhaps you should get yourself gas central heating. If you have an efficient and safe central heating system installed you will enjoy the benefits of a comfortable and snug household.

In general, two types of gas central heating systems exist, one that’s pumped and the other with a vented system; but a gas boiler, radiator and pipework make up the elements of most heaters.

The most commonly used central heating systems are the pumped systems, which consists of two prominent parts, a feed and expansion tank; the tank is the core of the system, it first heats itself and then transfers the heat to the heaters through the pipes. Provision is made for water to be filled in the expansion tank tank as well as for expansion of the heated water.

The vented gas central heating system, on the other hand, is a sealed system, and it doesn’t have the centre section. No water tanks are required because the system is closed. A sealed central heating system gets rid of the risk of water leakage, airlock formation and pipe freeze (a common problem in the harsh winters of countries like Russia).

You may ask why you need central heating and what are its benefits?.

One of the greatest advantages of gas central heating is its capability to increase the temperature inside a house or office very quickly without creating any noticeable effects in the air immediately surrounding you. Electric fires, gas and storage heaters were the types used in the old days. However, these older heating methods make the air sticky and hard, and can also emit an unpleasant odour.

The gas central heating systems are free from all these drawbacks but they need regular maintenance to keep them operating reliably. A lot of houses switch them off during the warm summer months and as soon as a cold snap hits, they then switch them on, this should not be done. Try to switch on your central heating system during autumn so that if there is any defect, it can be fixed well before winters approach and fixed at a time when the plumbers are less busy.

Airborne dust and other contaminants can also seep into the gas central heating system, necessitating periodic drainage and cleaning. To flush the system, open the valve carefully and drain the collected water into a bucket, while ensuring that no further water gets into the heating system.
