Don’t miss heating boiler protection policies

These days anything from laptops to pets can be covered with insurance plans. Some of them are very important, like motor protection, and also compulsory putting them higher up the scale when compared to others. Lenders will also require borrowers to take out house insurance if they have a mortgage to cover the cost of replacement and reconstructing. These types of insurance cover protect the policyholder from losses that could ruin their lives.

Next important insurance that you should have is the central heating insurance by a reputable company like British Gas or npower Hometeam. The gas central heating policy is obviously not as important as your home insurance, but its important nonetheless as fixing it can cost you a fortune if you have an unexpected boiler or heating failure. If we call someone to repair an unforeseen heating problem it will take some time for the plumber or central heating engineer to attend which is a big problem as it is difficult to live without hot water or heating particularly in the winter season. More worryingly is the prospect of a faulty system leaking carbon monoxide, which can be fatal.

Anyone in the market for a new central heating boiler maintenance or breakdown plan has plenty of options. Basic plans will cover annual servicing, safety checks and other minimum requirements. Maintenance and spare parts coverage are not included in these policies and servicing plans. You just need to pay small amount per month to upgrade to a policy that covers repairs, labour and spare parts building on one of these basic plans, unless your gas boiler is under guarantee and covered by the manufacturer or the installer. This additional money will be a worthwhile payment especially if the heating boiler is approaching its end of life. At this point, customers will have to decide if they just need their central heating boiler covered, or if they also want to have the rest of the central heating system covered such as the radiators, heating controls and so on.

Sometimes the insurance company sets limits or clauses of exemption even in a full cover plan, hence it is important to read the fine print. Some insurance policies allow only limited call outs in a year and fix a maximum amount to be used on repairs during a particular time period. Ensure that you have all your central heating needs insured at a reasonable premium, just as you would choose a life insurance or car insurance package.
