Heating Boiler care is commonplace

These days there exist insurance plans which can cover a very wide range of events ranging from pet health through standard problems such as mobile cover. Of course, some things are more important to get covered than others and, with the likes of motor insurance, you may be legally required to do so. Lenders will also require borrowers to take out building insurance if they have a mortgage to cover the cost of replacement and reconstructing. These insurance policies can prevent you from suffering sizeable loses impacting on your life for years to come.

In the next circle of priorities are plans like British Gas or npower boiler insurance policies for a vital service in your home – Gas Central Heating. Perhaps because it is not a requirement to have the likes of central heating insurance it is often overlooked by homeowners and landlords, however repairs of the likes of gas central heating systems can be very expensive. On top of the cost, you may have to wait some time to have a professional come to your house to fix any problems and living without hot water or heating can be a nightmare. More worryingly is the prospect of a faulty system leaking carbon monoxide, which can be fatal.

A wide choice of plans exist in the market for both heating boiler servicing and central heating repair. The simplest plans are those that include just the minimum requirements with yearly servicing and safety inspections. Maintenance and spare parts coverage are not included in these policies and servicing plans. But anyone taking out one of these plans, unless their central heating boiler is still under warranty, only has to pay a small amount more per month to upgrade to a policy that covers repairs and spare parts. This is a wise move, specially as the central heating system’s warranty period and working life draw to a close. Although a customer may just want their gas boiler covered, it might be prudent to have the rest of the system (radiators, heating controls, central heating pump and so on) covered too.

One thing to watch out for when choosing a policy is any exemptions or limits written into the insurance policy document. Some suppliers will limit the number of call outs per year or specify a maximum cost of inclusive repairs for a given period. Unless you make sure the level of cover is right buying the protection could be worthless so you should not choose the cheapest premium unless you know what you are getting.
